1. Scope and Per-App Notice
This Privacy Policy applies to the MedNotify mobile application, related features, Guardian and family member accounts, medication reminders, cloud sync, support, and any web or backend services connected to the app.
Some information may stay only on your device. Other information may be sent to our backend or trusted service providers when you create an account, add a family member profile, use cloud sync, enable push notifications, restore purchases, contact support, or use connected features.
2. Who We Are
MedNotify is operated by Dhanraj Kawade. For privacy questions or requests, you can contact us using the details at the bottom of this policy.
For purposes of this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the app owner and the systems used to provide the app and related services.
3. What We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect, receive, or store:
- Account information such as your name, email address, date of birth, and account identifier.
- Authentication information needed to sign you in and keep your account secure.
- Medication information you enter, such as medication names, dosages, medicine system classification (Ayurvedic, Allopathic, Homeopathic, or Other), schedules, and instructions.
- Dose history, including when doses are marked taken, missed, or skipped.
- Family member profile information, such as a dependent's first name and date of birth, and the medications and reminders you set up on their behalf as their Guardian.
- Device and app details such as device identifier, platform, app version, build number, push notification token, and last sync time.
- Purchase entitlement status needed to unlock paid features (MedNotify Plus), restore access, and show renewal reminders.
- Basic diagnostics, request logs, and error information needed to operate and protect the service.
4. Why We Use It
We use information to:
- Creating and managing your account and any linked family member profiles.
- Scheduling and delivering medication reminders and missed-dose alerts.
- Letting you and your Guardians view, add, edit, organize, and delete medication and dose records.
- Backing up and restoring data when cloud sync is enabled.
- Registering devices for push notifications and keeping sync state consistent.
- Verifying premium access and restoring purchases.
- Responding to support requests and troubleshooting issues.
- Protecting the app from misuse, fraud, or unauthorized access.
5. Legal Bases (GDPR)
If GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on one or more legal bases depending on the context:
- Contract: to provide the app, account features, family member profiles, sync, and support you request.
- Consent: where you choose optional permissions, push notifications, or certain optional features.
- Legitimate interests: to maintain security, prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve reliability.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with law.
Where applicable, we treat medication and health-related information you choose to enter with additional care, and only process it because you or your Guardian chose to enter it into the app.
6. Health Information
MedNotify is a medication reminder and organization tool. It is not a medical device, and it does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Medication names, dosages, schedules, and medicine system classifications you enter are provided by you or your Guardian and are not verified by us for medical accuracy. Always consult a licensed physician or pharmacist before starting, stopping, or changing any medication.
In the United States, MedNotify is not operated by a HIPAA-covered entity, and information you enter is not protected health information under HIPAA. We still apply the safeguards described in this policy to information you provide.
MedNotify is not intended for use in a medical emergency. If you or someone in your care needs urgent help, contact emergency services directly.
8. International Transfers
Your information may be processed or stored in countries other than where you live. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws in your location.
Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, provider safeguards, or other mechanisms allowed by law.
9. How Long We Keep It
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain your account and any linked family member profiles, support sync, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Local data may remain on your device until you delete it, uninstall the app, or use an in-app delete or logout option that removes local data. Server-side synced records, including medication and dose history, may remain until deleted through account or sync controls, family member removal, support request, or our retention process.
10. Security and Breach
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a security incident that requires notice under applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users or authorities as required.
11. Cookies and Tracking
The mobile app may use local storage, device identifiers, push notification tokens, app settings, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, support reminders, enable sync, and improve reliability.
If the app or related web pages use cookies or analytics tools, they may be used for security, diagnostics, usage measurement, or service operation. You can manage some permissions, including notification permissions, through your device settings.
If the free version of the app shows advertising, Google's AdMob SDK may use advertising identifiers and similar technologies to select and measure ads, as described in the Advertising section below. You can manage ad tracking permissions and reset your advertising identifier through your device settings.
12. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of MedNotify may be supported by advertising. Where ads are shown, we use Google AdMob to display banner ads, full-screen (interstitial) ads, and app-open ads at appropriate points in the app. MedNotify Plus subscribers do not see ads.
To provide and measure these ads, Google AdMob may collect information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, general app usage, and ad interaction data. Where you permit tracking, ads may be personalized based on this information; otherwise, non-personalized ads are shown in accordance with applicable law. AdMob may also use privacy-preserving attribution mechanisms to measure ad effectiveness without identifying you individually. We only receive aggregated ad performance metrics from Google, never your personal information or the medication and health details you enter in the app.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regions where required, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present a consent form the first time you open the app, so you can choose your advertising and personalization preferences before any ads are shown. You can change these choices at any time from the app's settings.
Where your device requires it, the app will ask for permission before accessing your device's advertising identifier for tracking purposes. Declining this permission does not prevent ads from being shown, but only non-personalized ads will be displayed. You can review or change your ad tracking and personalization choices at any time through your device's privacy settings.
The only third party involved in advertising within MedNotify is Google, through the AdMob and UMP SDKs. To learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services, see Google's Partner Sites policy.
13. Children and Family Profiles
MedNotify accounts are intended for adults. The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow a child to independently create an account.
As a Guardian, you may add family member profiles for dependents you care for, which can include minors. By adding a family member profile, you confirm you have the legal authority to manage that person's medication information, and you are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter, including their date of birth and medication details.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly and without appropriate Guardian involvement, contact us so we can review and remove it.
14. Your Rights (EU/UK)
If EU or UK data protection law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
These rights may depend on your location, the type of information, and the legal basis for processing. We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
15. Your Rights (US)
Depending on your state, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain processing activities. We do not sell personal information.
You may contact us to make a privacy request. We will respond as required by applicable law.
16. Automated Decisions
We do not use your personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Some app behavior is automated for normal operation, such as syncing data, detecting a missed dose based on your medication schedule, sending reminder and missed-dose notifications, checking purchase entitlement status, and applying your settings.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you acknowledge the updated policy.
